SMI Teams up with Relic to Help Clean the Ecosystem
East Moriches, NY (February 28, 2018) – SMI Co-Founder and CFO Robyn Butler announced a new partnership with clothing design company Relic to help raise funds for water filtering oyster projects around the United States. Based out of Long Island, Relic helps plant up to 50 oysters in estuaries and bays for every t-shirt that it sells.
“SMI has always aligned itself with TSI (Total Social Impact) companies whose missions and efforts we believe in”, says SMI CFO and Co-Founder, Robyn Butler. “Relic embodies the corporate mission of the future, providing a platform where commercial and socially conscious actions merge, and the consumer feels good participating in the experience. We’re excited to expand our reach and partner with other local and national initiatives.”
Since its inception, SMI has been committed to supporting socially conscious efforts around the globe. Planting oysters helps filter water, removing organic and inorganic particles which results in cleaner water for all other species in bays and estuaries.
“80% of ocean life originates in estuaries”, says Relic founder Aiden Kravitz. “It has been an incredible experience working with these non-profits to help plant more oysters and we hope to be able plant 150,000 more by the end of the year”.
SMI will be attending RFMA 2018, all are welcome to stop by Booth #333 to discuss managed maintenance needs as well as learn more about SMI’s TSI commitments. Attendees will also have the opportunity to pick up an SMI limited edition t-shirt from Relic, snap a Polaroid take away, and plant five oysters in one of the three bays supported by Relic and their partners.
